Saturday 5th June 2010, 12:10PM BST.
A Shrewsbury motorcyclist has been killed in a collision on the Isle of Man.
Mathew Alexander Evans, 29, from Shrewsbury, died in a crash at the Mountain Box at about 8am yesterday.
Mr Evans was riding a blue, red and white coloured Honda Fireblade Motorcycle at the time of the crash.
The incident happened the day before the start of the opening race of the 2010 Isle of Man TT.
Detective Inspector Terry Stephen, from the Isle of Man Constabulary, who is leading the investigation, said Mr Evans died as a result of him coming off his motorcycle while attempting to negotiate the lefthand bends at the Mountain Box.
He said: “It is very sad that a person has lost his life today whilst riding on the TT Course.
“We are still investigating the cause of the collision and many lines of enquiry are continuing.
“It is still unclear if any other vehicle was involved in the incident or on that part of the TT Course at the time it occurred.”
The police are appealing for witnesses to the incident which resulted in part of the course being closed for six hours.

Evo was one of the best men at my daughter’s wedding only two years ago.Despite only meeting him on a couple of occasions,I was immediately
impressed by his personality and of course he did a great job at the wedding.
I’m finding even writing this extremely difficult,so my condolonces go out to all his family and friends at this sad time.

This is awful news for all who knew him, but most of all for his loved ones. My deepest sympathies are with them at this very sad time.
He was a genuine, honest and decent man, extremely family focussed and a fine firefighter.
