Millions of people will be tuning in to watch Shropshire’s dancing dog and her owner as the pair bid for stardom in tonight’s live final of Britain’s Got Talent.

And in what is set to be the biggest reality TV betting event of the year Chandi, the blue merle border collie, and her owner Tina Humphrey, of Shrewsbury, have been installed as third favourite to win the show. The winners will get the chance to perform in front of the Queen.

Britain’s Got Talent supremo Simon Cowell last night named Chandi and Tina in his top two acts for tonight’s showdown.

Bookmakers William Hill said it is expecting more than £1 million to be wagered on the live final.

Hill’s have reported that the live semi-finals produced a total turnover that was three times that of the 2009 semis.

Mogul

Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams said: “Spelbound are the big favourites but Susan Boyle got beaten last year so anything can happen.

“The running order will be key as last year the final three acts came first, second and third but it is hard to see which act Simon Cowell will want to win as none of the main contenders look like huge money spinners for the media mogul.”

Tina said victory in the final would be amazing and she called on people to support them by picking up their telephones to vote.

She said: “Winning would be the ultimate dream because you get that prize of performing at the Royal Variety.

“So for my beautiful little rescue dog to come from such a bad start and end up performing in front of royalty, it doesn’t get any better than that.”

Since their appearance in Tuesday’s semi-final – where they swept through with ease – the pair have seen the number of fans on their official Facebook page more than treble.

It rocketed from about 2,000 fans to more than 6,000 in just a few days and people have left many messages of support.

In a message on the official site, Tina said: “Just a quick message as we’re kinda busy right now!

“Just wanted to say an enormous thank you for all your overwhelming support and messages of congratulations.

“Every single one is so very much appreciated and I’m sorry that I just can’t reply to everyone individually. Please, please keep supporting us and vote for us in the Final on Saturday. XXXX Woof, woof!”

She wrote on her Twitter page last night: “Welcome to all our new followers – please vote for us in Saturday’s BGT Final – we appreciate your support.”

Tonight’s show will be screened live from London at 7.30pm on ITV1.
