Letter: Trying to trace families of WWI dead

Letter: During the last few months The Commonwealth War Graves Commission has refurbished the 43 World War One graves in the churchyard of Christ Church, Tilstock, and adjoining cemetery.

It is hoped to recognise this refurbishment by holding some form of ceremony later this year, possibly near Remembrance Day in November.

The following are among the men buried here.

1. Private John Thomas Walters, No.22422 of KSLI, died May 18, 1916. Son of J & E Walters, Hayes Farm, Coton, Whitchurch.

2. Sergeant George William Aimson, No.36318 of The Kings (Liverpool Regiment), died February 26, 1919. Son of A & E Aimson, husband of J Aimson, Red Lion, Tilstock.

3. Private H H Jones, No.33150 of The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, died November 2, 1918. Son of E & E Jones, 2 Fair View, Bomere Heath.

I am trying to trace any descendants of the above in order that we can invite them to any ceremony the church holds.

If anybody recognises any of the names, I would be obliged if you could contact me on (01948) 880762 or email petersayer@lineone. net
