Robber kicks Telford teenager in head
Friday 28th May 2010, 3:00AM BST.
A Telford teenager was pushed to the ground and kicked in the head during a robbery as he walked along a town path.
The 17-year-old victim from St Georges was grabbed from behind as he walked along the Silkin Way in Oakengates at 11.38am yesterday.
He felt two hands on the back of his shoulder before being pushed to the ground. He was kicked several times in the face before the robber demanded he hand over “everything he had”.
The terrified teenager handed over £10 out of his wallet and loose change but the attacker then also demanded his mobile phone.
When the victim opened his bag to show he did not have a mobile phone, the robber fled towards Willow Road. The robbery happened on the stretch of path between Willow Road and Walker Close.
Sergeant Pete Simmonds, spokesman for Telford police, said: “The victim was left scared and shaken and suffered pain to his face but did not need hospital treatment.
“This was a violent attack for a small amount of money. We would urge any witnesses who may have seen the robber following his victim from Oakengates bus station towards the Silkin Way to contact police on 0300 333 3000.”
The robber was white, aged about 18, with dark hair and wore a grey hoody.
