Police name Shifnal fatal crash motorcyclist
Wednesday 26th May 2010, 10:43AM BST.
A motorcyclist who died in a crash on a Shropshire road was today named by police.
Officers said Michael Hutchinson, 41, of Lynton Avenue in Wolverhampton, died after Monday’s crash in Shifnal. He was pronounced dead at the scene after the smash in Haughton Road just after 1pm.
A post-mortem examination was held yesterday and an inquest is expected to open this week.
Police say they are still trying to trace the driver of a white van travelling in the same direction as the motorcyclist at the time of the collision.
Sergeant Pete Jones, the senior investigating officer, said Mr Hutchinson’s black and red Suzuki machine was travelling towards Shifnal services from the direction of Haughton when it was involved in a collision with a blue Citroen Saxo travelling in the opposite direction.
The female car driver received cuts and grazes.
Sgt Jones said: “We particularly want to speak to the driver of a white van which we believe was travelling in front of the motorcycle just prior to the collision.
“It’s possible the driver was unaware there had been a collision but they could be a key witness and we are anxious they make contact.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0300 333 3000.
