Ben’s wildlife video makes a good impression
Monday 24th May 2010, 9:41AM BST.
A budding Shropshire wildlife presenter has been shortlisted in a national competition to win a guest slot on a nature TV show after impersonating celebrities such as Steve Irwin and David Bellamy in a YouTube video.
Ben Waddams, of Bicton Heath, Shrewsbury, is one of five finalists in the Wildfowl and Wetland Trust’s contest to find a guest presenter for Green TV.
He was recognised for the short film he made to encourage people to take part in the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust’s Wildest Hide and See’ survey which launched on Friday.
And he could now get the chance to meet his idol Sir David Attenborough if enough people help him win by viewing his online video.
One of the main judging criteria is how many online views the film has .
If he emerges victorious he’ll get to meet BBC TV wildlife presenter Sir David at WWT London Wetland Centre as well as winning a guest news presenter slot on Green TV and a whole host of other fabulous wildlife prizes.
Ben’s video shows him in an area of wetland and impersonating the likes of the late Australian wildlife TV presenter Steve Irwin and Sir David.
The 25-year-old said: “It was great fun doing it and I think attempting to impersonate is the word.”
