Letter: Thanks for kind gesture
Thursday 20th May 2010, 9:00AM BST.
Letter: I would like to show my appreciation and thanks to the community of Telford.
I was fishing on Saturday at Trench Pool, Trench Lock. I had been fishing for about four hours when the fisheries bailiff arrived and asked for my rod licence and a fee of £4 for the day’s fishing.
I presented my fishing licence and my military ID card. I tried to hand over the sum of £4 to the bailiff, who replied: “For you, son, there is no charge today.”
I asked why and he replied: “You soldiers do enough.”
I would like to say a big thank you to the bailiff and Telford Angling Association. I felt very humbled and very proud at the comment.
Once again, thank you.

well done that bailiff. Neither soldiers nor debt collectors get a break. Ever. I married 1 and spent 20 years emplyed as the other. Proud of our Armed Forces. More of us should be.
