Who stole my mummy’s memorial tree?

Molly Simpson with her mother Mo Hubbard, who died a month ago

A little girl has been left heartbroken after thieves stole an artificial silk rose tree placed in a Ludlow garden in memory of her mother.

Devastated - Molly Simpson

Molly Simpson's mum died a month ago

The memorial, which had pink silk roses and had countless pictures and letters from five-year-old Molly Simpson to her mother, was taken from the back garden of the family home in Ludlow overnight on Sunday.

Molly’s mother Mo Hubbard died of a heart attack just a month ago.

Hilary Green, the child’s guardian, said: “I was trying to think of something so Molly could remember her mummy.

“Molly could not say goodbye to her mummy in the way we had planned.

“She was writing notes to her mummy and they were going on the tree.”

Police today launched an appeal for information about the theft and Mrs Green also appealed for help to catch the culprits.

And she is also urging them to return the tree, which meant so much to Molly.

She stressed: “Someone must have seen it somewhere.

“Anyone who saw it could see that it was not just a normal tree.

“Molly is gutted because again it is a loss.

“Now she has only got a photograph which she carries around with her,” she added.

I can think of no better reason for bringing back corporal punishment / borstal / and all those other ‘too nasty for the poor criminals’ treatments than this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Irrational ????? over the top ?????? who cares, reading this article has just reduced me to tears for the first time in I don’t know how long !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did this poor child ask to lose her mother ? NO –

Did this poor child ask anyone to take away her focal point of contact with her mother at this awful time ? NO

Someone out there will know who is responsible for this – for God’s sake get a grip, give this back and GROW UP !!!

I agree. Corporal punishment is ideal for this type of ‘person’.

Is NOTHING safe? This childs mother has passed away and some scum bag has taken away what is so sacred to this little girl her “mummys memorial tree”. I hope the memorial is returned to little Molly.

Yes bring back borstal like Shropsman said that would sort a few out!!!

My heart goes out to little Molly for both the loss of her mother and the loss of something that clearly meant the world to her and kept her mother’s memory alive.
People like the scum who did this make me sick. How could they possible do something like that? It seems clear to anyone, no matter how moronic or neanderthal-brained they might be, that this was a memorial tree to a small child’s mum. They could not have been ignorant to how much hurt it would cause. Whoever took it really must be the scum of the earth.
I just hope and pray the old saying comes true in this case – that karma is a b**ch.
Someone in Ludlow must know who has taken it or where the scumbags have dumped it so please, if you have a heart and for this little girl’s sake, grass them up to the police!

I have family who live in Ludlow… so Im not just a visitor… so I regularly see antics of the socially challenged within the community. This article – sadly – does not shock me.

I’ve just come back to read this story again, thinking I’d calmed down and possibly been too hasty when I first commented … but having read it again, it maks me even most angry !!!!

If you are reading this and live in Ludlow, make it your one goal to help the police find the pathetic waste of oxygen behind this.

All you have to do is re-read the one sentence “Now she has only got a photograph which she carries around with her,” to convince you it’s the right thing to do.

To Loo and Mrs Green, please do all you can to reassure Molly that the great majority of people in Shropshire are thinking of her and wish her all the best for the future. Not everyone is bad like this and there are a lot of good people out there who want to make things better for you. God bless xxx

You want to be careful referring to scum as, errr, scum.

In a case reported yesterday the Chairman of the Blackburn Magistrates was suspended after he referred to two 16 year-olds who’d vandalised a cathedral as “absolute scum”.

The clerk of the court and the mother of one of the scum have made a complaint, but I’m pleased to say that the father of the other lowlife has spoken out in support of the magistrate and his comment.

Socially Challenged ? So now we are giving low life an excusable name, no doubt they are victims of the society that we, hard working taxpayers have created for them, I am sure they feel uncomfortable having to watch us earn money and spend it, they are jealous of what we own, and cannot accept that in life they must work to earn some respectand have their own money.
Nothing is going to change the way I feel about the individual/s responsible.
I am angry, tearful and so frustrated that we allow scum like this to live in our society and make excuses for them.
God only help the next generation.

The exhausted out-going Nu-Labour treasonists and treasury department stand-up comedians claimed, conveniently close to the election, that crime was going down. My goodness you only have to look at this webpage to see a different story.

I wonder what satisfaction the **** who did this got from it. To call them scum is a compliment. Someone MUST know something and I would beg them to come forward and tell the relatives then let them dispense some street justice. A court appearance would result in a smacked wrist and an act like this deserves so much more. My sympathy goes to Molly and I hope she ges her tree back soon.

Ok come on return the tree, the poor little girl has been through alot recently, this was ehr only way to be able to remember her mum and you have taken it away. There is low but this this takes the biscuit, the poor girl is a very sweet, honest and polite girl, she wouldn’t say boo to a goose and you do this to her.
I am going to ask people of ludlow to keep an eye out for this tree. if you know who did it, get the tree off them, dont think “na im not grassing” its about a 5 yr old girl and her happiness, put yourself in her shoes, how would u feel, me i’m 21 and if this was my only connextion i would be hurt, a lot.
Molly i hope you get the tree back soon, prayers and thought with you at this time and always :)

A couple of years ago a lad in Madeley stole a wheelchair from outside a pub in Ironbridge, after an appeal and some reporting by the Shropshire Star the lad was publicly humiliated by the people of Madeley and forced to hand himself in to the Police.
Some folk in Ludlow will know who this person is and need to do the right thing..
