Shopper’s £1,000 spree in 20 minutes

A Shropshire woman spent £1,000 in just over 20 minutes as the first lucky winner to go wild in the aisles at Telford Shopping Centre.
Carol Bowen had an hour last night to spend the windfall at any of the 160 stores in the centre in true trolley dash style.
Any cash left over at the end would have been forfeited – but Carol, from Dawley, had visited the centre earlier in the day to pre-pick her purchases and spent the cash in a third of the time.
She said: “It was fantastic fun – I regularly shop at Telford Shopping Centre but I have never had so much to spend in a short amount of time. Spending £1,000 is fun but not as easy as it looks.”
The competition has been launched as part of a late night shopping promotion at the centre. Director Chris Jones said: “It is not often competition winners have to work hard to get the best from their prize, but that’s exactly what Carol had to endure.
“The competition will be running for several months so we would encourage all shoppers to enter.”
To enter shoppers need to collect an entry booklet from customer services, answer a simple question and hand it back on any Thursday between 7pm and 8pm.
As an additional bonus, everyone entering the prize draw will automatically be entered into a weekly draw to pocket £100 in vouchers from top stores including Zara, Debenhams, House of Fraser and Primark.
