A budding teenage entrepreneur from the Powys/Shropshire border scraped through the boardroom after failing to impress on the first ever Junior Apprentice show.
A-Level student Rhys Rosser, of Llanfyllin, was one of 10 young people chosen out of thousands of applicants to star on the BBC programme.
The first of six episodes was broadcast on BBC1 last night when the candidates were set their first task by Lord Alan Sugar to sell £500 of cheese at a London market.
Under the watchful eyes of Lord Sugar’s aides Nick Hewer and Karren Brady, the teams had to select a market to trade from, identify and price their 23 cheeses and get selling.
Career
Seventeen-year-old Rhys is competing for a fund worth £25,000 to kick-start a career in business.
He is a public speaking champion in his region and believes that the most important thing in business is to know what you are doing, and that the customer is not always right.
His spare time is mainly spent working in his parents’ hotel.
In his audition for the show, Rhys, who wants to open a chain of cafes, said: “I’m not a business boy, I’m a businessman. “I want to show everyone that I’m someone.”
