I would suggest that a form of national service be re-introduced for 18 to 21 year olds who have not gained employment or are unwilling to find employment. Lets face it, even with all the incentives of job schemes, back to work, NVQs gained by extra years at college there are no job prospects at the end. This leads the youth of today into a not getting out of bed syndrome, they lose self-respect and a vast majority drift into the drug culture and are lost forever. Why not employ them at just above minimum wage, teach them self discipline, possible a trade, after initial training put them on the docks, airports to search cargo entering the United Kingdom, give them back self respect, give them back hope, let them serve there communities and country.
