Town festival packs in visitors

Thousands of people enjoyed county produce and real ales as they packed into a south Shropshire market town for a festival.
The second Ludlow Spring Festival, an offshoot of the three-day festival in September, drew in the crowds this weekend with 148 real ales, along with cider and perry on tap in the festival pub marquee.
Following a Meet the Brewer night on Friday, attendance was high despite rain on Saturday.
Festival chairman Phil Maile said: “It’s been going really well, attendance is definitely up on last year.”
The event was supported by Ludlow-based Taste Real Food, which promotes events publicising sustainably produced local produce. They ran tasting sessions and were joined by other exhibitors.
Demonstrations during the weekend included a session with Will Holland, head chef at Ludlow’s Michelin-starred restaurant La Becasse, and a beer tasting event with Master Brewer Alex Barlow.
