Letter: Fight for your hospital
Thursday 6th May 2010, 6:15AM BST.
Letter: On April 17, I injured my knee in a minor car accident and was taken to A&E and booked in at 9pm.
The waiting time to see the doctor at that moment was an hour and a half.
While waiting my turn to see the doctor I observed that there was a continuous stream of the patients to be seen at the A&E.
The waiting time gradually crept to two hours and 20 minutes.
After waiting I was examined very professionally by the doctor and with great courtesy taken to the X-ray department by the nursing staff.
My examination was satisfactory and I came home at 1am.
Since I worked in the NHS for 20 years I thought it was my professional and moral duty to draw the attention of Telford and Hospital NHS Trust to safeguard not only the interest of A&E but also vital services at the Princess Royal Hospital for which Telford & Wrekin people have contributed a lot.
It is obvious that to reduce waiting times at the A&E department we need more doctors, nurses and financial resources to overcome the problem.
PRH A&E is vital for us and its shifting or downgrading will be against the public interest.
