A Lithuanian man was today jailed for life for the murder of his 63-year-old Shropshire landlady in a brutal attack at her home.

Gintautus Psenaska, 45, attacked and killed Margaret Wycherley at her home in Castle Street, Oswestry, on May 31 last year after drinking solidly for three days, Stafford Crown Court heard.

Psenaska , who had earlier today admitted murdering Mrs Wycherley, was told the minimum sentence he would serve before being eligible for parole would be 16-and-a-half years, minus the 332 days he has already spent in custody.
