Housing plan for site of pub

Monday 3rd May 2010, 11:08AM BST.

A Shropshire pub could be demolished to make way for nine homes.
Punch Taverns has submitted an application to Telford & Wrekin Council to bulldoze the All Labour in Vain pub in Horsehay, Telford, and build seven three-bedroom and two four-bedroom homes in its place.
But Dawley Hamlets Parish Council looks set to oppose the bid for the Wellington Road site at its meeting next Monday.
Clerk Martin Goldstraw said it would be “very sad” to see an historic building go.
A report says: “The site has become unviable for any tenant due to rising costs associated with running the public house and following a significant decline in trade.”
