A “vulnerable” man was punched in the face and left with a broken nose in an unprovoked attack in Telford, police said today.
The victim, a 42-year-old man from the town, needed five stitches after the vicious assault.
Telford Police spokesman Chris Ammonds said the attack happened at Coach Central in the town centre sometime between 10.30pm and 10.45pm on Wednesday.
Mr Ammonds said the victim, who was described as vulnerable, was waiting for a bus when he noticed a man and woman having a row.
He said: “A second young woman was also involved in this argument and eventually the young man stormed off. However, as he stormed off he walked past the victim and, without warning or exchanging any words, he punched him full in the face.”
He added: “As a result of being punched, the victim suffered a suspected broken nose, bruising and swelling to both his cheeks and a cut to his upper lip that required five stitches.”
The attacker was described as being in his late teens or early 20s and was wearing a dark hooded top.
