Carjackers attack driver and flee in stolen Golf
Thursday 29th April 2010, 12:00PM BST.
A driver was today subjected to a terrifying attack when he was ambushed by three men in a carjacking incident on the main Bridgnorth to Kidderminster road.
The unprovoked assault happened on the A442 near Danesford at about 11.50am.
Shropshire police have issued an alert to other forces around the region to be on the lookout for the culprits who sped away from the scene in a black Volkswagen Golf and a red saloon.
Police were called to an address near Bridgnorth following a report that the victim’s car had been stolen and the owner threatened and then assaulted.
He was approached by the men just after he had pulled up outside a property on the link road and they ordered him to hand over his car keys.
He was then assaulted by one of the men, although he is not thought to be seriously injured, and the trio made off in the black Volkswagen Golf GTI.
The attackers were also using a red saloon, possible a Honda Civic. A fourth man was thought to be travelling in the red car which sped off in the same direction as the stolen Golf.
Police sealed off the area on the busy road. An ambulance was also called to deal with the victim’s injuries.
Officers were this afternoon conducting house-to-house inquiries in the area and forces across the Midlands have been given details about the vehicles.
Detective Inspector Gavin Kinrade, of West Mercia Police, said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen either vehicle since to contact police on 0300 3333000.
“If anyone has information about the location of the cars they should get in touch with us immediately,” he said.
