Boy bitten in dog attack
Wednesday 28th April 2010, 10:30AM BST.

Four year old Jack Williams from Arleston, Telford was attacked by a dog while he attended a party on Saturday.
A four-year-old Telford boy had his ear badly bitten in an attack by a dog at a children’s birthday party in the town, it has been revealed today.
Jack Williams was rushed to hospital and needed 12 stitches to sew the ear back together. His mother Amber Williams, 31, of Churchill Road, Arleston, said that Jack had gone along to a birthday barbecue party on Saturday afternoon which was attended by a number of children.
She added: “Jack had just arrived and as the front door opened and he went to walk in the dog leapt up at him and bit him on the side of the face.
“He was left bleeding heavily and screaming in agony and there were also paw marks left on his chest.”
Jack was taken straight to the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford but was told he would need to go to the maxi-facial unit at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
Stitches
Miss Williams said: “We drove over to Shrewsbury where Jack was told he would have to have an operation the following morning and so he was kept in overnight.
“The dog had bitten through the cartilage of his ear but the surgeon managed to sew it back together.
“Jack had 10 stitches on the outside of his ear and two others inside.”
The youngster was recovering at home today and will be off from Wrekin View Nursery in Wellington for the rest of the week.
He had a new teddy bear for comfort, courtesy of staff in the A&E department at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
Miss Williams said: “The dog was only a puppy but there were other children at the party and they all could have been attacked. The dog should be put down.”
Telford police spokesman Chris Ammonds today said: “I can confirm that we received a report on Monday that a four-year-old boy was bitten by what is believed to be a Staffordshire bull terrier puppy while attending a birthday party.
“We are continuing to investigate this matter and intend to visit the dog owner to find out exactly what happened.
“We are also liaising with the RSPCA.”

That poor little boy I say anyone who is a dog owner and there dog bites someone the owners should look at the injuries and really consider having the dog put to sleep.I have 3 dogs and if any of them bites somebody I would not hesitate to have them put to sleep.Lets hope Jack gets better soon and hope he doesn’t become scarred of dogs all the best to you Jack.

i have 2 staffordshire bull terriers and neither of them are nasty i feel really sorry for the little boy jack and i hope he makes a quick recovery and does not suffer from being afraid of dogs as they can be lovely but at the same time not all dogs can be trusted and that dog should clearly been put out of the road i know my dogs jump up when excited but they would never put their teeth on anyone if they r taught properly they will not be nasty xx that dog should be put down sorry if its anyones who is reading this but its not right i know if either of mine did they would be gone as quick as they had tried it but they have always been round my 2 yr old son and they all get on brilliantly and they both know better than to even think about it as from a when we got them they have been taught they dont do it xx GET WELL SOON LITTLE MAN

I am indeed sorry for this little boy, if his mom knew about the puppy maybe she could have been a bit more aware, jumping up is just what puppies do. Looks like the puppy was only playing. But here we go again people have no idea what they are doing when they take on a dog, just like children they don’t know what is right and what is wrong until they are taught. Unfortunately many dogs are homed with the wrong individuals, who expect so much from the poor little dogs, and when they dont get it right are destroyed. Maybe this little dog would be better off out of this crazy world. Dogs are so ‘CHEAP’ shame we dont react to the things people do in the same way, and have them put down……
