Star trots out for title bid

Saturday 24th April 2010, 10:34AM BST.

A diva pig will be aiming to steal the limelight from Shropshire’s performer porker Scarlett on tonight’s Britain’s Got Talent.

Star hams it up on the prime time programme, making a name for itself like the pig owned by Shropshire’s Gwen Howell, of Pigs In Clover, at Cardeston.

Scarlett enjoyed a meteoric rise and became the nation’s most famous pig after auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent.

She was even invited to the world premiere of Nanny McPhee 2 at the Odeon, Leicester Square, last month and had her photograph taken during a walk in Trafalgar Square.

Later, she waltzed up the red carpet with owner Mrs Howell, wearing a specially adapted silver sequined harness for the occasion.

But now her crown could be stolen by Star.

Star is billed by his owner as performing tricks on tonight’s show, but instead he terrorises presenter Ant McPartlin, who is waiting in the wings.

The animal’s chances of being able to bring home the bacon are put in jeopardy when the pig, described by his owner as “a bit shy”, charges off stage.

Backed into a corner, Ant says of the porker: “He doesn’t like me much does he? What’s his problem?”

However, the hysterical scenes make for incredible viewing and are a highlight of tonight’s programme.
