A Shropshire chef will find out tonight whether his bid to cook for Prince Charles is one step closer.
Will Holland, head chef of La Becasse, in Ludlow’s Broad Street, has appeared on Great British Menu throughout the week and he will find out tonight whether he has been crowned champion of the Midlands region. He is cooking against a chef with two Michelin stars.
He will be judged by former Great British Menu champion Glyn Purnell, who formerly cooked at the restaurant that is now run by Mr Holland.
Today Mr Holland said: “It’s been great fun cooking as part of the Great British Menu and people will have to tune in tonight to see whether I make it through to the next stage.
“I had great fun cooking against some of the finest chefs in our region and I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”
Mr Holland has dazzled his rivals and judge Mr Purnell this week by creating new dishes using produce from a property near Derby.
He added: “The programme was all about taking us out of our comfort zone and I have thoroughly enjoyed finding new ingredients and creating new dishes.
“We’re into the business end of the week when the judges chose two to stay and one to go.”
Mr Holland was unable to reveal the result of tonight’s cook off, which will be screened on BBC 2 at 6.30pm.
