Girl in hospital after being hit by car

A nine-year-old girl was taken to hospital after she was struck by a car in Shrewsbury.

The girl suffered grazing to her back, arm and hip during the incident which happened in Kynaston Road in the Harlescott area of the town just before 4.45pm yesterday.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called to the scene. Chris Kowalik, a spokesman for the service, said a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance crew were sent to deal with incident.

He said the girl was taken to hospital for “precautionary checks”.

“A nine-year-old girl had abrasions to her back, right arm and right hip following the collision,” he said.

West Mercia Police confirmed it also attended the incident. Anybody who witnessed the incident can contact officers on 0300 3333000.
