Shrewsbury Town boss Paul Simpson has urged his side to be more clinical in front of goal to resurrect their fast fading League Two play-off dream.

Town entertain Lincoln tomorrow having failed to score in four successive games at the Prostar Stadium.

Shrewsbury have only had four straight home blanks on three previous occasions in the club's history, 1957-58, 1973-74 and 1990-91.

They have never gone five successive home games without a goal, and Simpson is aware his side's slim hopes of a top seven finish will be all but gone if they fail to find the net tomorrow.

"We need a win so we need goals," said the Town boss.

"We have had some chances but not as many as we would have liked, and we have also had some poor finishing.

"We haven't done anything different but it hasn't happened for us.

"But we have to keep going and hopefully the goals will come.

"All we are looking at is winning tomorrow's game.

"A lot of the other teams up the top are playing each other this weekend, so if we can do our job, hopefully it will move us three points closer to the play-offs."

On the subject of goals, Simpson must decide whether to stick with the Dave Hibbert-Jamie Cureton partnership or shuffle his striking options.

The Town chief revealed Kris Bright would have started against Cheltenham on Tuesday had Hibbert not recovered from a sickness bug, and the Kiwi has since struck twice in the reserves at Sheffield Wednesday.

And 17-year-old Tom Bradhsaw is also pushing hard for a role after his two-goal debut at Crewe a week ago.

Bright and Bradshaw have joined Kelvin Langmead, Hibbert and Will Richards in being struck low by illness during the week, but Simpson is hoping the bug will clear in time for tomorrow.

Dutchman Benjamin van den Broek missed Wednesday's reserve victory with a slight hamstring niggle, but it is hoped he will recover.

Graham Coughlan, Craig Disley and Jake Robinson remain sidelined through injury.
