The Shropshire Star's classified advertising section is being relaunched next week with a new image and a host of new features.

From Monday the section is being modernised, expanded and rebranded as

My-Classified. Every classification will be published in alphabetical order to make it easier for buyers to find what they are looking for, and giving added value to advertisers.

A new online service is also being launched, allowing readers to search and find any classified item for sale.

Sally Green, the group's classified advertisement manager, said: "The My-Classified section is now the largest superstore in Shropshire and the West Midlands, reaching over a million customers each week. There are thousands of bargains, famous brands, plus hundreds of leading craftsmen and professional traders providing a huge range of products and services.

"We all know how the credit crunch, teamed with job losses, is affecting our day-to-day lives. We hope that by making it easier for people to access our services in all kinds of ways, we can do our bit to help keep the region going."

She added: "You can earn up to £200 for items for sale with Shropshire Star My-Classified, for free.

"All it takes is for you to have a clear-out of the loft, garage, garden shed and you'll be surprised at what you find, and just how much you could earn from it."

The new My-Classified website will allow people to sell their item for a specific price, or auction it. And unlike other classified websites, you can trust in the knowledge that all the items for sale are from local people.

"You won't have to post items all over the globe and you'll be able to bag a bargain locally, helping to reduce your carbon footprint," Sally added.

Last year the Shropshire Star helped readers to sell an amazing 12,552 budget-buy cars, more than 4,200 computers, more than 7,300 items of clothing, and 4,545 three-piece suites. The service will allow readers to widen their audience across the West Midlands, by running their ads in both the Shropshire Star and sister paper the Express & Star, as well as Shropshirestar.com and Expressandstar.com, plus 16 local weekly titles.
