Full steam ahead for Father’s Day
Wednesday 9th June 2010, 9:44AM BST.

Telford Steam Railway is offering fathers the chance to drive a full-sized engine on June 20.
The ideal gift for Father’s Day, it’s just £25 for 15 minutes introduction on a cold engine plus another 15 minutes at the controls of an industrial steam locomotive.
The family isn’t forgotten either as the price also includes a Family Ticket for unlimited travel all day on the service train.
The ticket also covers rides on the Steam Tram, built for Telford Town Park in the 1970s and back in use after an extensive overhaul. It gives trips along the edge of Horsehay Pool.
Other attractions will include the newly opened museum wagon, an extensive miniature railway featuring scale replicas of steam and diesel engines and a vast model railway occupying over three hundred square feet.
The Furnaces Tea Room offers refreshments in a pleasant atmosphere and the gift shop, the Freight Stop, stocks an impressive array of souvenirs to suit everyone.
Telford Steam Railway can be found at Bridge Road, Horsehay, Telford, TF4 2NF. Book early on 07816 762790 as the limited number of places soon fill up.
