Shrewsbury estate agent sees host of commercial lettings

A Shrewsbury estate agents is reporting a host of lettings and sales in the town with bosses saying there is still demand for commercial properties in Shropshire despite the economic downturn.

Steven Evans, of Pooks Commercial Property Consultants, said there had been two recent lettings at 5 Swan Hill Court, Shrewsbury, a late 18th Century Grade II listed building situated within Shrewsbury Town Centre Conservation Area.

Mortimers Solicitors, which has existing offices in Bridgnorth and Hereford, has taken the first floor suite.

The Shropshire Association of Senior Citizen Forums has taken the lower ground floor suite following its move from School Gardens. Both suites have been let on new six-year leases.

Mr Evans said: “Pooks are pleased to have arranged these lettings on behalf of our private investor clients leaving the building now fully let.”

Meanwhile, 1 Butcher Row has been let to Me Me Mode – a business selling hats, fascinators, tiaras, jewellery and silk scarves.

The premises, which are Grade II listed, are on a pedestrianised shopping street just off Pride Hill.

Mr Evans said: “Pooks are receiving increased demand for town centre shops and Butcher Row is proving a popular trading location.”

The estate agents has also let another town centre property to a dance school.

Centre Pointe Dance School has moved into 23a St Mary’s Street.

Pooks has also handled the sale of a Grade II listed building in Town Walls.

The former Town Walls Dental Practice premises at 5 Town Walls was empty after the previous occupiers relocated.

The premises have now been sold to Shropshire company Clear Design Consultancy Ltd, who will be moving from nearby College Hill.

Mr Evans said: “In spite of the current economic climate this sale shows that there is still considerable demand for freehold properties in Shrewsbury with a number of cash purchasers in the market for premises. “
