Victorian mansion on the market for £3.5m
Wednesday 3rd November 2010, 11:21AM GMT.
A luxury Victorian mansion in a Midlands village has gone on the market for a cool £3.5 million.
It comes complete with its own chapel, clock tower and stables – and even room for staff quarters in its 34 acres of land.
After 15 years, owners Steve and Caroline Murray are aiming to move out of Bell Hall in Belbroughton, near Stourbridge.
It is thought the house, built in the 1850s, was originally used as a hotel.
And despite the price tag which puts it outside the price range of most buyers, there have already been three viewings and estate agents say it is creating “a lot of interest” since it went on the market a week ago.
Mr and Mrs Murray said they were moving away partly for business reasons, and also to downsize as their three children have now left to go to university.
The nine-bedroom mansion overlooks the Clee Hills, while a disused Grade II listed Norman chapel sits in the grounds.
Among the outbuildings in the extensive grounds are stables, coach houses and a clock tower with a groom’s flat.
The main house offers a drawing room, dressing rooms, office, and vaulted cellars.
There are five double bedrooms and five reception rooms, all with high ceilings and original features.
To the side of the 12,000 sq ft house is a courtyard with four garages.
Tony Morris-Eyton, of Savills estate agents, said the property was “the epitome of the perfect country house”.
He added: “It is a fantastically well-built house and is in immaculate condition.
“It is also very private and has stunning grounds that look over the rolling hills of the countryside. This really is a magnificent property and we think the combination and grandeur and features makes it worth the impressive asking price.”
