Tenants to gain in swop scheme

Social housing tenants in Shropshire are set to benefit from a new home-swopping scheme.
Shropshire Council and Shropshire Housing Group have announced a partnership deal with HomeSwapper.
With more than 8,500 homes between them, bosses at the two groups are hoping to empower their tenants to use
HomeSwapper to search for their very own home swap as an alternative to going on a waiting list.
Viv Marriott, housing services manager for the council, said: “HomeSwapper has had a huge influence in the mutual exchange arena over the last few years and we see the service as a must-have option for tenants looking to swap home.”
Nirmal Samrai, head of housing at Shropshire Housing Group, added: “One of the key reasons for joining HomeSwapper was to improve services for our tenants to exchange.
“Together with other partnering landlords in the region we will be able to offer Shropshire tenants access to the same level of service.”
All the major social landlords, including Wrekin Housing Trust, Mere & Moses Housing Association, Severnside Housing and South Shropshire Housing Association have all partnered HomeSwapper.
