For many it was THE car of the 1960s. And if this video is anything to go by, the new generation of E-Type Jaguar is set to win a legion of admirers in its stunning, modern guise.
This is the 186-mph two-seat coupe Jaguar are planning to launch next autumn, with a price tag of around £50,000.
At the moment its rather utilitarian codename is C-X16, but industry insiders say it will almost certainly go on sale as the XE. And the new car brings the E-Type legend right up to date.

It has a supercharged 3-litre V6 petrol engine, eight-speed automatic gearbox and Formula One style paddles behind the steering wheel.
And it even keeps the Green lobby happy with an electric motor designed to give the system an environmentally-friendly boost.
The batteries for the electric system are charged by energy used when the car brakes, making it one of the most innovative in its field. The hybrid engine will drive the car at 50mph for two miles – a bit sedate compared to the petrol engine’s ability to take the car from 0-60mph in just 4.4 seconds.
With the price of fuel rising by the day, the 41 miles to the gallon the car manages is a welcome surprise – certainly in comparison to the 17.9 miles a gallon boasted by the old E-Type.
Jaguar is likely to see the car taking on the Porsche Boxster and its first public outing is expected at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week.
