Bentley exclusive for Cholmondeley Pageant of Power

Shropshire petrolheads will be among the first in Britain to see a record-breaking car in action when it debuts at a major event just across the county border this summer.

Bentley Motors will unleash its world record-breaking Continental supersports convertible Ice Speed Record car at this year’s Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, being held near Whitchurch.

With the four-time world champion rally driver Juha Kankkunen at the wheel, the supercar last month set a Guinness world record speed of 205.48mph for driving on ice when put through its paces on the frozen waters of the Baltic Sea.

A founding sponsor since 2008, Bentley recently agreed to sponsor the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, which last year drew 50,000 visitors, until 2013.

At this year’s pageant, which takes place over three days for the first time from July 15 to 17, the luxury car manufacturer will showcase award-winning cars like the new Continental GT and its new flagship, the Mulsanne.

There will also be the opportunity to see the 2003 Le Mans winning Speed 8, the Jordan F1 car which Giancarlo Fisichella piloted to victory at the Brazil Grand Prix in 2002 and the classic Lancia Delta Integrale WRC Martini rally car.

There will also be displays of motorcycles, helicopters, powerboats and hovercrafts.
