Poll: Should there be a night-time ban on young drivers?
Wednesday 22nd September 2010, 1:00PM BST.
Newly qualified young drivers should be banned from night-time motoring and carrying passengers of a certain age, researchers have said.
And a recent report from Cardiff University suggests that doing so would save 200 lives and lead to 1,700 fewer serious injuries each year.
Graduated driver licensing schemes already exist in countries such as Australia and New Zealand and Sarah Jones, a public health consultant who led the research, told Radio 4′s Today programme that “there is no good reason why it wouldn’t work here.”
