Finding the perfect window blind

Commercial feature – Venetian, Roman, roller, pleated, vertical slats or horizontal – there’s such a range of styles to choose from that finding the perfect window blind for either your home or your office can be incredibly confusing.

Then there’s the range of materials to choose from: aluminium, pvc, fabric, wood, wood effect. In fact, the list is almost endless – and this is even before you’ve thought of colours.

But here’s the good news. All this should tell you that window blinds are just as versatile, and of course, just as stylish, as curtains.

TuissIndeed, they may have a definite advantage over drapery, since blinds are often more hardwearing and longer-lasting than curtains – and easier to clean, too.

And, of course, they are not just for your working environment, so they certainly don’t have to look dully functional.

You can, for instance, dress them up with valances. In fact, blinds can really help you create the space that you’re looking for, since they really do have the ability to complement any room in any building, whether that’s a bathroom, a study, a bedroom or a kitchen, or whether it’s in a modern home with contemporary furnishings or one in which you want to complement period details.

Therefore, picking the right one for your home or office is crucial. And it’s not just about the style, material or colour, either.

Think about the different light effects you want to achieve in your room, how much light or privacy you want to aim for. Perhaps, for instance, you work at nights.

Understandably, you’ll crave sound, uninterrupted sleep when it’s still light outside. Or perhaps you have an young child who simply won’t get to sleep for the same reason.

In both cases blackout blinds for the bedroom can be extremely effective. Think about it. They really can make all the difference.

And, of course, you mustn’t forget that there’s something for every budget. Surely that’s not worth losing sleep over.
