The Shropshire Star’s third annual Car & Leisure Show kicked off this morning at Shrewsbury Town football club’s stadium.

The event, which runs from 10am to 4pm today and tomorrow, is on target to be the biggest yet, with more than a dozen of the county’s leading names in the car and leisure industry exhibiting their latest products.

Visitors also have the chance to get a closer look at some of the newest models of caravan and motorhomes from award-winning Salop Leisure. Entry, and parking, is free.

Also exhibiting this weekend is Shropshire-based furnishings company Alan Ward, with its new collection of all-weather garden and conservatory furniture.

“We are delighted to bring together some of the biggest names in the industry to join us at the show this weekend,” said Michael Haines, corporate regional advertising manager at the Shropshire Star.

Other attractions during the weekend include a climbing wall, inflatable golf game and a bouncy castle, while Shropshire Fire Service will also be there with a fire engine.

And Severn FM radio presenter Paul “Shuttsie” Shuttleworth will be socialising with visitors and exhibitors and providing entertainment.

Shropshire Newspapers director Peter Guy said: “Each year the number of exhibitors increases, as do the attendances, which reflects on the commitment from some of the largest companies in Shropshire who are representative of the automotive and leisure industries.

“The football club is unique in offering an outdoor venue which allows us to provide a first class exhibition with ample free car parking for the local visitors who attend over the two days.”
