Modernising your private space is always a difficult and stressful task, a thankless one at times it has to be said too. Wooden flooring provides a hassle free and stylish way to put your worries behind you.
Timberland Flooring is one company that provide and install wood flooring to homes around the UK. They have been in the business for over a decade and are considered the leading specialist timber floor installation firm. The demand for Wood floors has risen dramatically over the past few years.
The demand for wood floors has risen for a few simple reasons; it’s more affordable, durable and is bang on trend right now whereas carpets look more likely by the day to be confined to the record books.
Homeowners, rental properties and showrooms are all completely behind this trend, for the neutral nature of hardwood floors means that it’s simply the best way to showcase your possessions, whether it be a piece of furniture, a kitchen or a spacious hallway, it really does brighten up a space whereas carpets do have the habit of dividing up a space and making it somewhat darker.
Young professionals are another group behind this stylish trend as the ease with which it is to maintain a wood floor means it suits the hustle and bustle or a hectic lifestyle. I’m sure we can all agree cleaning is a boring and laborious job at the best of times, so why prolong the agony by having a carpet that’s a nightmare to keep clean?
I for one grew up living in fear of spilling something or dragging mud into the house after playing sports and games outside. Carpets have to be regularly cleaned and replaced to avoid that tatty or tired look; wooden floors on the other hand are a natural material and as a result are a lot more durable.
We all know carpets retain stains more than meets the eye and this can range depending on your lifestyle or general messiness. Stains are extremely difficult to get rid of and things such as animal hair or food that gets caught in the carpet may appear to be cleaned away after much hard scrubbing and vacuuming, but this is rarely the case and you’ve only scrubbed it in deeper and deeper.
The time consuming nature of cleaning and maintenance is making this once popular mainstay of UK homes no longer a popular choice and stains can regularly reappear if not properly dealt with, something which is both time consuming and costly.
With dirt and animal hair comes another inevitable downfall of carpets, illness and allergies. Bacteria and germs can fester amongst the dirt and become a potential health risk. If small children in particular are in the house this can be a problem. Wood floors again do not have such worries.
Dust mites are another problem, the miniscule little runts that can really alter someone’s breathing. I’d never heard of them until a close friend alerted me to them, and with wood floors, these mites simply don’t have a place to hide.
You’ll save so much more money with a wooden floor too as there is simply no need for expensive cleaning products and carpet fresheners. Animal hair or stains and spillages are much more easily dealt with when it comes to carpets too and all that’s required is a brush or mop of sorts to dispense with the mess. Doctors are now even advising patients with allergies to switch from carpets to timberland flooring because carpets are a breeding ground for a lot of unseen nasties.
This does bring up the longevity question too, with your typical carpet lasting around 10-15 years, the same amount of time roughly that a wooden floor will last just before it needs a bit of fine tuning, and you simply get a lot more for your buck with wood than carpet, it’s as simple as that. It’s difficult to argue against wood’s durability, and with age it’ll just start looking better and better.
Wood floors can offer a contemporary feel to a home, something we all strive for, and what started out as a trend that was restricted to the city’s high rise modern flats some years ago has now filtered down as the stylish way to go about home improvement.
For those of you that think carpets retain warmth a lot more than wood floors, well to be honest, as a basic principle, you’re not far off, but nowadays under floor heating is a simple installation with wooden flooring. It can maintain a home’s warmth much more effectively and is more than a match for carpet’s heat absorption qualities.
Carpets will always remain the traditionalists’ choice, for some people will always be simply stuck in the mud unfortunately, blind to the fact that people’s style and tastes are changing, wood flooring from somewhere such as Timberland flooring though is most certainly at the cutting edge of technology and style at the minute.
There is also the environmental factor to contend with too. Unlikely as it may seem, man-made fibres on carpets do not break down well. If you are environmentally conscious and do not wish to have a large carbon footprint, then wood flooring is a brilliant step forward. The large majority of wood flooring is sourced from renewable forests to ensure that for every tree used, another will be planted in its place.
Wood flooring offers a low maintenance, durable and stylish alternative to carpets. Speaking to an expert such as Timberland flooring could further make up your mind that this contemporary style of floor is the way forward for you, and soon you could be enjoying top quality wood floors too.
