Monday 19th April 2010, 10:54AM BST.

The British National Party has hit out at county hustings organisers after claiming it faced “deliberate exclusion” in the run-up to the election.

West Midlands BNP spokesman James Whittall, a candidate in Shrewsbury & Atcham, said the party was not being invited to the majority of public debates.

He said: “We feel this is a slap in the face of the democratic process.”

Principal of Shrewsbury School Martin Ward said guidelines said to invite the three leading parties. It also also invited the Green Party as there was a historical link.
