People in Oswestry had to look twice after seeing a huge motorbike in the sky. But rather than being the real thing it was an air balloon launched from Oswestry School’s playing fields, near Welsh Walls.

It was released into the air early on Friday along with two smaller balloons.

Veronica Bryan-Smith, of Willow Street, said she “stunned”.

She said: “I was just walking down the stairs just before 7am to get ready to go to work when I saw the huge motorbike balloon. I have never seen anything like it. It was huge and actually really awe-inspiring. It was really surreal watching it.

“I grabbed my camera for a quick picture and I even shouted on my son Kit to take a look but it would take more than a balloon to have got him out of his bed.

“I actually thought it might be some sort of massive promotion for Mike’s Bikes, the nearby garage. I thought to myself Mike had really gone to town this time but it was nothing to do with him.”

Looks like ‘art’ to me. Pity the Darwin cement turkey twizzler wasn’t inflatible, still, at least it’s a turkey I suppose.
