Ken Pusey, of Sandcroft, Sutton Hill, in Telford, was injured when a vandal threw a brick at a bus

An 81-year-old grandfather left with blood pouring from his head after a brick was hurled through the window of a bus in Telford today appealed: “Find the hooligans who did this to me”.

Ken Pusey, of Sandcroft, Sutton Hill, in Telford, was chatting with his wife June as they travelled on the Arriva Midlands bus along Dale Acre Way in Hollinswood last Wednesday afternoon.

Seconds later, a rock smashed through a side window of the bus and hit the pensioner on the side of the head.

Today he said: “It all happened in seconds. There was this loud bang, it was like an explosion. Luckily my wife ducked down but the rock or whatever it was smashed me on the side of the head.

“I ducked down but I put my hands up to my head and could see all this blood gushing through my fingers.

“We couldn’t stop it at first and I feared the worst. It was carnage on the bus – there was blood and glass everywhere.”

Mr Pusey, who has four children and seven grandchildren, escaped serious injury and is now recovering at home.

He said he owed a huge debt of thanks to his fellow passengers and the emergency services for acting so quickly to help him – but he did not have such kind words for whoever threw the brick.

“They are just hooligans aren’t they? They must be stupid. I wish they could see the results of what they have done,” he added.

Anyone with information is urged to call Telford police on 0300 333 3000.

‘Hooligans’ isn’t a strong enough word for these morons actually. If they were kids – and they probably were – they should nail the parents as well as the kids, if they manage to catch them.

I’m undecided as to how committed the police are to catching people like this. And even if they do, they’d get a wishy washy punishment.

What if this brick had hit the bus driver? People could well have been killed.

Why nail the parents? They didn’t throw the brick

ccty on the outside of the vehicle oh i forgot
the police want YOU to do the identifying bit
if i owned the transport i would stop all troublesome routes untill the populace themselves
made it known to the miscreants that they are the cause of their plight

Because Suellan, all too often it turns out that crimes like this are committed by parents who couldn’t give a toss what their kids are doing.

Of course, its always possible that in this case the parents have no idea WHAT is going on – they can’t watch them all the time after all – but don’t bet on it. Brick throwing at buses is a regular pastime in some areas (eg Bristol, where it was found that in many cases where they managed to catch those responsible, the parents really DIDN’T give a toss.)

Well then Jeepers, you really are showing your sterotyping – because some parents couldn’t give a toss then all parents can’t? – you’ve made an assumption based on the few – and as you admit, they can’t watch them all the time so what are they to do? So the parents are now guilty until proven innocent of bad parenting?

Bad parenting does not always make bad kids – sometimes kids go wrong despite the parents best efforts and you should give the parents the benfit of the doubt until proven otherwise

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, people like this need a bullet to the back of their knees, nothing else is going to stop them. Throwing bricks at busses is just a way in which they can get attention.

Shotguns were invented for a reason.

“people like this need a bullet to the back of their knees”

    - typical bleeding heart liberal response – what’s wrong with the back of their necks?

Of course, none of this would happen if we’d got more youth clubs…..
