Jake has eyes on Zamora’s example

Striker Jake Robinson wants to take inspiration from Bobby Zamora and bounce back from a below-par campaign to become a Shrewsbury Town success story next season.
Robinson has struggled to make an impact since his summer switch from Brighton, starting just 17 games and scoring four times in all competitions.
He has had to face up to a fresh setback this week after damaging medial knee ligaments when he came on as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat at Torquay last Saturday.
But Robinson is refusing to get down-hearted and is hoping for better fortunes next term.
“I came up to Shrewsbury with really high hopes with dropping down a division, having had a strong pre-season and then scoring in the first game against Burton,” he said.
“I’ve shown glimpses of what I can do but it’s not really happened for me consistently since then.
“Players can have an off season and you have to put down to experience.
“Just look at Bobby Zamora. He only scored four goals for Fulham last season and now he’s the main man there.
“Hopefully I can do the same here.”
Robinson, meanwhile, hasn’t given up hope of appearing before the end of the season after coming off worse from a 50-50 challenge with Torquay defender Guy Brantson last week.
“I felt it straight away but the manager had used all three substitutions so it was either leave the lads with 10 men or hobble on which I did,” added the 23-year-old.
“I was on crutches straight after which is the norm with knee injuries to keep the weight off it.
“But there has been good improvement in the last six days.
“It’s not an injury you can rush but hopefully I can get back before the end of the season.”
