No plans to widen road

Friday 9th April 2010, 10:31AM BST.

Government transport bosses say they have no plans to widen a notorious stretch of the A5 near Oswestry despite the release of latest figures which reveal the high number of deaths and serious injuries along the accident blackspot.

North Shropshire MP Owen Paterson asked transport minister Chris Mole what plans he had to widen the A5 between Wolfshead and Queen’s Head.

Mr Mole, in reply, said there were no plans to widen the road for at least another nine years.
