Thomas Telford School headmaster Sir Kevin Satchwell said pupils “would hardly notice the difference”.
The fire was discovered yesterday in a roof above an art room at about 8.40am.
More than 50 firefighters worked for almost four hours to bring it under control and fire crews from six stations across the county were sent to the school.
Following the blaze, the headmaster said on the school’s website: “The fire was quickly attended by the fire service who did a brilliant job by making safe the students’ work before treating the fire.
“Damage was minimal and the students will hardly notice the difference when they return to school next week.
“Once a detailed report has been made as to the cause, appropriate action will be taken to ensure safety is maintained.”
Inquiries into the cause of the fire are still ongoing.
