Simpson’s message ahead of Torquay match
Friday 2nd April 2010, 2:18PM BST.

‘It’s time for the real Shrewsbury Town to stand up’ – that is the message from manager Paul Simpson as his team attempt to halt a nightmare run in their Easter double header.
Town head to struggling Torquay tomorrow before entertaining promotion-chasing Notts County at the Prostar Stadium on Monday.
The pressure is on Shrewsbury after a run of four successive defeats without finding the net.
But Simpson is urging his side to focus solely on earning a victory tomorrow.
“It’s time for the true Shrewsbury Town players to stand up,” said the Town boss.
“We have had a shocking month in March. We all knew Rochdale was going to be a tough game and the same for Aldershot.
“But it’s the Grimsby and Darlington games which have been horrible for us and not done us any favours.
“We all have to live with what’s happened and deal with it.
“The best way to do something about is to get a positive result and performance in Torquay. That’s all we are looking to do.
“It wouldn’t matter if we were playing the Dog & Duck tomorrow, it would be important because we have to get a result.”
Town make the trip to the south west with midfielder Craig Disley the only absentee.
And Simpson has revealed he wants his players to concentrate on getting the basics right.
“We had a meeting on Monday afternoon for three or four hours where everyone aired their views,” he added..
“There were a lot of good things that came out for it.
“We know we’ve let ourselves down and I say we because – even though it’s not me that’s playing – we are all in it together.
“The only way we can do something is by doing the next one properly.
“Torquay is not an easy place to go anyway but they are scrapping for their lives and have gone quite direct in their way they play recently.
“But I think regardless of what they do, we have just to focus on getting our own house in order.
“We haven’t created enough, haven’t scored any goals and we haven’t kept clean sheets.”
Town begin a big weekend five points outside the play-offs with eight games to play.

Forget the play off’s ! I am just glad we have enough points to guarentee league 2 safety !
Simmo’ got little response so maybe the “real Shrews’” are a team capable of losing 2-1 away at Torquay…
Give Dave Hughes the job on a caretaker basis and wave goodbye to Simpson.
