Unsettled Easter ahead
Thursday 1st April 2010, 11:39AM BST.
Shropshire and Mid Wales is facing an unsettled Easter weekend with a mixture of sunshine and showers forecast over the Bank Holiday.
There was a sprinkling of snow in the Telford area overnight as temperatures hovered at about 0C (32F).
And drivers had to get out their ice scrapers in some areas today after waking up to find cars frozen over.
Light showers were expected to sweep across the region later this afternoon with heavy rain due tomorrow and Saturday.
Temperatures are forecast to rise to about 8C (46F) over the weekend with lows around freezing.
For those planning a day out, Easter Sunday is expected to be the best day with mainly dry weather and sunny intervals expected.
A Met Office spokesman said: “Yesterday was a cold day. The next few days looks as if it is not going to be as cold as yesterday. The weekend will be unsettled. Easter Sunday is not looking too bad.”
Elsewhere thousands of people remained without power as heavy snow hit parts of the country.
Seventeen-year-old Natasha Paton, of Cleghorn, was killed when a school coach heading to Alton Towers crashed on the A73 at Wiston, South Lanarkshire, Scotland, yesterday.
