Rider robbed at knifepoint

Thursday 1st April 2010, 11:33AM BST.

A man was robbed at knifepoint by thieves who forced him to hand over more than £100 in a broad daylight attack in Shrewsbury.

Dozens of motorists passed by as the robbery happened along one of the busiest stretches of road in the town in Ditherington yesterday.

The 19-year-old, who was riding a bike, handed over £130 after two men blocked his path, produced a knife and demanded the money. Police said he was not injured in the incident.

The robbery happened between 8.30am and 9.30am yesterday, near the traffic lights between Heathgates island and the junction of Ditherington Road with Mount Pleasant Road.

Police urged anyone who saw it to call them on 0300 3333000.
