Vaughan will not appeal
Wednesday 31st March 2010, 10:49AM BST.
Defender Lee Vaughan will not appeal an FA misconduct charge that could see him suspended for a chunk of AFC Telford United’s Blue Square North run-in.
The right-back was sent off for a professional foul during the 1-1 draw at Hyde at the end of the last month.
He was served with a two-game ban for that, which will be completed after Easter Saturday’s trip to Ilkeston Town.
But the misconduct charge relates to foul and abusive language directed at the match officials after the red card was shown, and Vaughan is now likely to be hit with an extended ban.
“We won’t be appealing and we won’t be requesting a personal hearing at all,” Telford chairman Lee Carter confirmed.
“There will be some form of written explanation that accompanies our response to the FA, and that will include an apology.
“But we’re all well versed now in how these things are done, and we would not be hopeful of a positive outcome.”
Vaughan is also one yellow card away from an automatic three-match ban, having been booked 14 times so far this season.
He has been sent off a total of six times in his Bucks career, including four straight red cards. He has accumulated 60 yellows in his 184 appearances since signing in 2006.
The 23-year-old is likely to be available for the Easter Monday clash at home to Gloucester City, with any additional ban imposed by the FA coming into force after that.
Meanwhile, the Bucks have signed Market Drayton Town keeper Steve Taylor as cover for regular No 1 Ryan Young.
The paperwork was completed yesterday ahead of today’s non-League transfer deadline.
Taylor, who played for the Bucks in the 2005 play-off final, has been dual registered and will continue to turn out for Drayton in the UniBond League division one south unless needed by Telford.
