Letter: Still waiting for op after 25 weeks

Wednesday 31st March 2010, 8:58AM BST.

hospital-surgeonLetter: I refer to the article of March 20, refering to A&E waiting times, contained within this column were a few lines saying that the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital Trust continues to achieve the 18 weeks standard for treatment referral.

Before the trust continues to pat its self on the back for a good job, I would like to point out that my wife has currently waited 25 weeks for a gall bladder operation.

We are waiting for a new date following the cancellation of her operation on Thursday March 25.

How many more patients are waiting longer than 18 weeks?

I was supposed to have a Barium Follow Through done in march 2009, the appointment came and clashed with a previously made appointment for another matter so I rang and asked if it were possible to reschedule. Of course, the nice young lady on the telephone said, we will pop you a letter in the post with your new appointment date and time… As I said that was March 2009, still waiting for another appointment!
