McCarthy delighted with result
Monday 29th March 2010, 12:21PM BST.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy was delighted to see his side claim a point after their goalless clash with Everton.
But Hull’s victory over Fulham means Wolves are now just five points above the relegation zone.
The Molineux men are now four unbeaten, however, and have picked up eight points out of a possible 12.
McCarthy said: “I’m delighted with a point, I’d have taken that before we started.
“They are as good as anything that has been here.
“There was more chance of it being none than three, so I’ll take my point. I’m absolutely thrilled with it.”
Louis Saha hit the bar for Everton while Leon Osman failed to make the most of three good early chances.
Two of them were dealt with by impressive Wolves goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann, who was in the right place to frustrate the visitors throughout the encounter.
McCarthy said: “He was terrific, he has been since getting into the side.
“But they have all had to work hard. It has been workmanlike, full of desire, effort and honesty.
“While we have that we will always have a chance. We have our moments of quality and we will certainly battle it out with everybody.”
