Shropshire’s got the X Factor! Hundreds of wannabes have been unleashing their inner pop star at a special karaoke pod in Telford – making it the most popular in the UK.

Telford Shopping Centre is one of almost 40 locations across the country which boasts the interactive X Factor sing-a-long booth.

It is the first of its kind in Shropshire and is proving a major attraction with fans of the show desperate to try it out, shopping centre bosses revealed today.

Other locations include shopping centres in Cardiff, Leeds, Coventry, Glasgow, Nottingham and Norwich.

Tracy Hadley, marketing manager at the shopping centre, said Photo-Me International plc and Fremantle Media Enterprises, which developed the machine, reported that it was the highest grossing in the country.

Launched in January, several singers can enter the machine at once for solo or group performances and choose from a list of hundreds of tracks to sing.

Equipped with the latest digital technology, the machine, which costs £5 per go, then delivers a verdict from three judges and burns the song onto a DVD, for performers to take home and show off to family and friends.

Shropshire fans have now put it to the test to give their verdict on the last craze sweeping the county.
