Spate of burglaries could be linked

Thursday 25th March 2010, 11:16AM GMT.

police-car-lights1Police believe a spate of burglaries in Church Stretton may be linked, it emerged today.

The four house burglaries were all carried out at empty properties this month while the owners were away.

Officers have now stepped up patrols in the area.

The burglaries took place in Ludlow Road, Burway Road, Watling Street South and Clive Avenue on March 5 and March 6. And due to the similarities and time of the offences, police are continuing investigations into whether they were committed by the same person.

At the address in Ludlow Road, the offender was disturbed and fled the scene as the occupant arrived home.

He is described as white, in his 40s, about 5ft 9in and of stocky build. He had a “flat” face, square jaw and was wearing dark clothing.

Sergeant Graham Preece said: “The spate of burglaries has understandably caused some concern in the area and I want to reassure people that our investigations remain active.”
