County beauties are being urged to enter themselves to become Miss Shropshire 2010, writes Andrew Morris.

Organisers of the Miss England beauty pageant are on the look out for contestants to take part in the regional event later this year.

The winner will get the chance to follow in the footsteps of Kerry Price, from Shrewsbury, who won last year’s contest and went on to the finals.

This year’s Miss Shropshire final will be held at the Severn Cellars, in Howard Street, in the town on May 23.

Rhona Shafik, event spokeswoman, said: “Are you from the Shropshire area? Would you like to represent your home town in the Miss England competition?

“If so, now is the time to apply as we are currently accepting entries for Miss Shropshire, where the winner will go directly through to the grand final of Miss England 2010.” The first audition stage will be held on April 11 at Bada Bing in Telford Shopping Mall.

Entrants should be aged 17 to 24 years. To enter the contest, send your application to: missen glandheatsorganiser@google mail.com with the subject “MISS SHROPSHIRE 2010″

Applications need to include at least two photographs – one head and shoulders and one full length in a jpeg format.

The e-mail will also need to include full name, height, occupation, age, address and contact details.

Miss Shafik added: “The Miss Shropshire live final will be held on May 23 at Severn Cellars and you can follow in the footsteps of Kerry Price.

“Last year the contestants raised just over £1,450 for the National Autistic Society.

“The contestant raising the most funds was Layla Weirowski who was crowned Miss Charity Shropshire.”
