Bucks in late deal for Blair

Saturday 20th March 2010, 11:13AM GMT.

afc telfordAFC Telford United were today expected to hand a debut to new signing Matt Blair in their crunch Blue Square North clash at home to Stalybridge Celtic.

Wide midfielder Blair has joined from Redditch United, the Bucks lodging his registration with the league late yesterday to make him eligible today.

Telford will be the 20-year-old’s third club of the season, having begun the campaign with Bedworth United in the Zamaretto League premier division.

He played a key part in Bedworth’s run to the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup before stepping up to the Blue Square North at Redditch.

And his form for the Worcestershire side has attracted interest from several clubs, with Blue Square Premier outfit Kidderminster Harriers taking him on trial last week.

No deal was forthcoming at Aggborough, and he was back in the Redditch squad last Saturday for their 2-2 draw with Southport before Telford made their move.

Blair, the son of former Aston Villa and Coventry midfielder Andy, had previously played in the Midland Alliance for Stratford Town.

He is Telford’s second new face of the week.

Striker Mark Beesley joined on loan from Cambridge United and made his debut in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Eastwood Town.
