Boy, 9, hit and robbed of just 50p

Friday 19th March 2010, 9:28AM GMT.

A nine-year-old boy was hit around the head with a magazine and his 50p pocket money stolen by three youths while he waited for friends at a Ludlow play park.

The victim, who was not injured in the incident, was robbed between about 4pm and 4.15pm on Friday.

It happened near the skate park off Sandpits Road and was reported to police on Monday.

One of the youths hit the victim around the head while another grabbed his wrist and took his wallet. They then stole 50p from the wallet before handing it back and making off.

Constable Paul Coles said: “Although he was not injured, this was a frightening experience for a young lad and it is important that the offenders are dealt with.” Call West Mercia Police on 0300 333 3000.
